Editorial independence & how the calculators are built

Every calculator on SmallBizCalc uses standard accounting and business-finance formulas. The tax rates, wage figures, and industry benchmarks behind them are taken from primary public sources, the IRS, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Small Business Administration, and each state's Secretary of State and Department of Revenue, and updated when those sources change.

We do not accept payment, sponsorship, or promoted placement from any company. Our only revenue source is contextual display advertising served by Google AdSense, advertisers have no influence over the calculators, the guides, or how results are presented.
